West Yorkshire Scouts Big Camp 2015

Around 6,000 Scouts from all over West Yorkshire camped over the bank holiday weekend at Harrogate Event Centre on the Great Yorkshire Showground for Big Camp 2015.

The event was one of the largest of it’s kind in the country and the participant’s were spolit for choice when it came to activities. Some 300 activities were laid on for participants over three days, including laser tag, zorbing, climbing and a 50-metre abseil down the viaduct located next to the extensive showground site.

Despite the typical bank holiday weather; wind, rain and more rain, Scout Radio explored the whole site and talked to lots of participants about what they had been up to at Big Camp. We also spoke to the County Commissioner Mark Stageman who expressed his personal feelings on how the event had gone and his thanks to all the volunteers and adults involved ‘most of the people, certainly probably all the people have had a great time and we look forward to doing it again’.
