Scout Radio

EIJ2012

Scout Radio were in a prime location to run an FM station at this huge jamboree event, we were in the market square in the centre of the action. Around 10,000 people came together for this international camp and it felt as though Scout Radio spoke to most of them over the week. We were live on air from 7am to midnight every day, speaking to organisers, visitors, participants and playing some lively summer tunes to create a fun filled atmosphere. We also had young people on air creating their own shows, picking the tunes and telling us what it is like to be a Scout or Guide at this amazing event.

Every night Scout Radio broadcast all the action from the main stage, the talent shows, the band performances and the opening and closing ceremonies, which gave all involved an even bigger audience. Family and friends of participants messaged into the studio telling us how much fun the Jamboree sounded and they sent messages and dedicated songs to them from home. We even had some local Essex residents message us to find out more about what was going on as they heard all the fun the scouts and guides were describing live on air.

A team of 12 came together to work on the station for this event, not just people with presenting skills, but those with the ability to organise a schedule and run the activity for the young people, tech whizzes and those with production talents. We rely on people with a passion for radio coming forward and joining the team for each event we run, so if you fancy providing coverage at large and small scale events as part of a fun and enthusiastic team, please get in touch. Or, if you fancy having the Scout Radio team at one of your events, be assured that we will give it our all!
