Scout Radio is a National Active Support Unit of the Scout Association in the United Kingdom
The Scout Radio team are a collection of scouting volunteers based around the country who are experienced in broadcast radio or who want to gain more experience through working with scouting and young people to deliver radio in a multifaceted, multi-platform delivery.
The origins of the team lie in the Essex International Jamboree in 2008 where an internet radio station (Jungle FM) was a huge success. The people involved in the station recognised a need for a space for young people to develop a skill and passion for broadcast media and also saw how much a radio station could add to the experience of large events such has Jamborees.
Between 2008 and 2013 the team gained more experience through successful Jamboree Radio Stations at Wings 2009 (Berkshire), Norjam 2010 (Norfolk) and a return to Essex in 2012. Scout Radio has also supported County events with internet/PA based radio activities, and helped develop the “Jotiradio” ** station in 2010 which broadcast over the Joti/Jota weekend.
With each event the team grew and by 2012 had members from all over the UK. It had outgrown being a County unit and applied for National status. This was granted in early 2013.

** Jotiradio was developed in conjunction with a team of Avon Scout Leaders who have gone on to form Avon Scout Radio and now produce Jotiradio each year.
