Scout Radio caught up with Amir Cheema at Summit17 back at the start of April, the recently appointed UK Commissioner for Adult Support, to hear his thoughts on his new role and what he hoped to achieve in the role.
“We need to understand, where is it that we: need to make improvements? Keep doing the fantastic things we are doing?… and make tweaks to ensure adults run a fantastic programme?”
Amir highlighted the need to be in “listening mode” in the role of adult support and praised the work of the adults volunteers who help to lead and develop the programme
“Adults are the rockbed of the movement… Scouting gives something to these people”
Amir was also keen to find out what made Leaders tick, what get’s them excited about doing Scouts, he was keen to find out how he “could be of service to others”.
“You can let me know what you need to know!”
