WSJ2015: What is Jagz looking forward to?

Scott from Scout Radio caught up with Jagz Bharth, one of the deputy UK Youth Commissioners, at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan before the Opening Ceremony.

“I’ve been to smaller camps, but not a world jamboree before and this is just crazy” boldly stated Jagz about the scale of the jamboree. He commented that you could be camping next to someone from any country during the event and the scale of the jamboree is truly global. We also found out that Jagz will be working on the IST media team during the event, working amongst the social media channels (which is where he’s probably best placed, with his legendary selfie stick moments across the UK).

“Scouts is more about camping, we do look back at things that has shaped our lives today” Jagz commented in regard to the upcoming Hiroshima Day on the site, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombings in Japan. It was noted that the faith and belief zones are also a large way for participants to get involved and learn about the world around them, experiencing different cultures and meeting people from other countries.

Scott asked Jagz if he could sum up the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in three words, to which he replied “Unique, Opportunities and Teamwork”, we can’t help but agree.
