Scout Radio at Notts BIG Weekend County Camp
From Nottingham Showground Scout Radio broadcast live over the showground PA for the weekend providing a lively background to the excitement of all the activities jam packed into this amazing county event.
Form the Winner’s Hospitality Suite Scout Radio had a fantastic view of the event, from Guides flying down the zip line, to Scouts coming off the Simulator looking more than a little queasy we had it all covered.
Day one saw over 20 groups of young people create their own radio show that was broadcast across the site and online for parents and friends to hear at home.
The evening entertainment was a fantastic Lady Gaga tribute act, she got all the Scouts dancing and singing along in no time at all. Scout Radio had the pleasure of interviewing her afterwards; she was a very friendly and convincing Gaga, although the Welsh accent was a bit of a giveaway!
After a night sleeping in the studio the team were up and ready to help the event organisers broadcast their own version of a horse race commentary, this piece of comedy gold had all the scouts laughing and was a great way to thank all those involved.
Day two was back to back shows by Scouts and Guides, they were inventive and original in their shows and crowds gathered outside the studio to dance along to their excellent song choices. A particularly memorable half hour of dancing beavers was probably the highlight of the day!
Overall a great event, and Scout Radio were happy to be a part of it.
